Have you ever listened to a podcast? Have you thought about what they are for or how they could benefit you?
I first encountered podcasting when a coworker said he was listening to podcast’s at work. He continued to tell me about all the different channels that were available. I often listened to many lectures on Youtube at work but never dove into the podcast world. When I found out there was even a podcast for “Swifty’s”(Yup, those are the ultimate Taylor Swift fans, look it up, it’s a real thing!) that really opened my eyes to the possibilities of the podcast universe.
I recently read a paper on podcasts and it presented an introductory investigation on approaches to tailor and use audio podcasts as learning objects in learning management systems and learning object repositories.
Podcasting is a great opportunity to extend and improve lectures beyond classrooms, especially for courses. This could be very beneficial for any auditory learners whom learn best through verbal lectures and discussions.
If you are interested in learning more about podcast or how they could help you learn or get your own information out to people please research more!
